Name: NGC 6302, The Butterfly Nebula
Object Information: The Butterfly Nebula is a spectacular example of a planetary nebula. The central star, which is shrouded in the dark dust ring in the center, has ejected its outer layers as part of the evolution process and that ejected material is glowing because of the intense ultraviolet radiation being emitted by the star.
