Object Information:

Messier 20, Messier 8 - The Trifid Nebula and the Lagoon Nebula

This wide field image shows the emission nebula Messier 8 [center-bottom] and the emission nebula group of IC 1274, IC 1275, IC 4685 and NGC 6559 [center-left]. Contained within the border of Messier 8 is the open cluster called NGC 6530. Also prominent in this image is Messier 20 [center-top] which is a combination reflection and emission nebula. The open cluster Messier 20 is seen at the top-center edge of the image.
