Messier 8 - The Lagoon Nebula

The Lagoon Nebula is a beautiful star forming region in the constellation of Sagittarius. The open cluster NGC 6530, just to the left of center, is situated just in front of the Lagoon Nebula nebula. The brightest area at center is presently an area of very active star formation.
